Latin Percussion (LP) just launched the improved LP Black Box II Cajon. It’s based on the best-selling LP Black Box Cajon, and it’s the winner of some top drummer awards recently.

The Black Box II features a Meranti (often called Philippine mahogany) soundboard that helps in accentuation and increased tone, while an eco-friendly MDF body offers density and durability. Two sets of internal snare wires makes slaps more crisp an an integrated bass port enhances projection during live performances. Slightly larger than the original, the Black Box II Cajon also features a signature all-black matte finish for slick, stunning visual appeal.
In addition, the slightly larger dimensions, H-19” W-11-3/4” D-11-3/4”, of the new Black Box II Cajon give it a deeper and fatter sound. The Cajon is completed in a signature all-black matte finish with a white LP Logo, giving it slick, landmark and breathtaking aesthetics. LP Cajons make it easy for you to play and share the beauty of rhythm anywhere.
Since 1964, Latin Percussion has connected performers, audiences, and communities through rhythm. LP was an integral part of the vibrant mid-century New York City Latin jazz scene, which inspired founder Martin Cohen on a lifelong journey to develop traditional and innovative instruments from all cultures for percussionists ranging from professionals to elementary age. Over the last 60-plus years, LP has become an iconic musical instrument brand that transcends genre and includes appearances on more recordings and live performances than any other brand.
For six decades Latin Percussion has been the go-to brand for discerning drummers and hand percussionists the world over. From congas and bongos to cowbells, blocks and beyond, LP is a defining force in world music. And while there are many who have entered this space, once thing is still clear, LP is and always will be the original!
