British Columbia band Archspire is officially searching for a new drummer. After 15 years of being part of the band, longtime drummer Spencer Prewett has decided to part ways with the band. Archspire is now accepting audition videos for the open position.

Archspire is a Canadian technical death metal band from Vancouver. They have released four studio albums. The band was formed in 2007 as Defenestrated but changed their name to Archspire in 2009. Members were guitarists Tobi Morelli and Dean Lamb, drummer Spencer Prewett, bassist Jaron “Evil” Good, and vocalist Shawn Haché. Haché left to join Mitochondrion and was replaced by Oliver “Oli Peters” Aleron.
On October 29, 2021, Archspire released their fourth studio album Bleed the Future. Three singles were released: “Golden Mouth of Ruin”, “Bleed the Future”, and “Drone Corpse Aviator”. “Golden Mouth of Ruin” and “Drone Corpse Aviator” were accompanied by videos, with the latter being the first fully produced video the band had made. The album was elected by Loudwire as the 16th best rock/metal album of 2021[24] and won the Juno Awards of 2022.
Having been with the band since its creation in 2009, Prewett had been involved in almost every major milestone the band celebrated. He’s been featured on all four of the band’s full-length albums, including 2021’s Bleed the Future, and toured with the group.
The band wrote the following on Instagram:
“After more than 15 incredible years together, Spencer Prewett is departing from Archspire. We are immensely proud of all we’ve accomplished as a band, from traveling the world multiple times to releasing four albums, each crafted with our utmost passion and dedication. He set the bar for technical death metal drumming, and he’s leaving a void that will be incredibly difficult to fill. The remaining members are extremely focused on the band’s future, and work on Archspire’s fifth album will continue.”
With no intentions of stopping yet and with work on their fifth album in the process of being made, the band is holding open auditions to find someone to replace Prewett. According to the band, all one needs to do to submit their audition to film a video of them playing drums and post it on either YouTube or Instagram with the hashtag “#ArchspireAudition”.
So if you think you’ve got what it takes to hold it down with the rest of Archspire, now’s your chance. All you’ll need is a drum kit, some video equipment, and some skills.
