Plymouth Argyle supporter and Bastille drummer Chris ‘Woody’ Wood is the co-host of a new football fan podcast launched on the 10th of September.

Woody and another Indie rock drummer Piers Hewitt, of The Boxer Rebellion, are coming together for the new podcast. Woody is a lifelong member of the Green Army while Piers follows Southend United.

Famous as the drummer of the British rock band Bastille, Chris “Woody” Wood contributed to the group’s acclaimed 2013 album Bad Blood. This Double Platinum recording charted at number one in the United Kingdom and at number eleven in the United States.

A founding member of Bastille, he began his association with the group in 2010 and released his debut single with the band, “Overjoyed,” two years later. Bastille is one of the hottest bands in the world these days. Their hit song Pompeii frequented the radio waves around the world and sold-out performances across Europe and North America. An Instagram post about the podcast was shared on Woody’s profile.

‘Away Days with Woody and Piers’ will be about them sitting down with celebrity football fans to explore the joys and sadness that come with watching their team on the road. Everything from cross-country journeys and camaraderie in the stands to the pies, pints, and poor performances.

The launch episode today features Helen Chamberlain, the Torquay United fan best known for presenting Soccer AM on Sky Sports for 22 years. Helen discusses following Torquay on the road since the 1990s and speaks in depth about the sexism and misogyny she and other female football fans faced on the terraces.

Season One guests also include Capital Breakfast host Chris Stark (Watford), comedian Chloe Petts (Crystal Palace), Starsailor singer James Walsh (Liverpool), podcaster and Quickly Kevin star Chris Scull (West Ham), and You Me At Six singer Josh Franceschi (Arsenal).

Away Days with Woody and Piers is a podcast from Lock It In Studio, the team behind breakthrough podcast quiz Guestimators.
