Mike Streeto, a well-known drummer from East Haven, spent much of his life embodying the role of Ringo Starr in various Beatles tribute bands. Streeto’s dedication to capturing Starr’s unique style and sound made him a beloved figure in the tribute band circuit across the Northeast and beyond. On Saturday, Streeto tragically passed away from a suspected heart attack while traveling in the back seat of a car. He was returning from a performance at the Seneca Lake Brewing Co. in New York with his band Beatlegacy, a Beatles tribute act he founded.

Streeto’s passion for drumming and the Beatles started early in his life. He grew up in East Haven and later lived in Branford, where he became a fixture in the local music scene. Over the years, he performed with several tribute bands, including The Hofners, The Mersey Beat, and Beatlegacy. Streeto was also a versatile musician, playing in tribute bands for Creedence Clearwater Revival, Buddy Holly, the Monkees, and Elvis Presley.
Friends and fans remember Streeto as a talented musician and a caring individual. James Skilton, a longtime friend, described him as “a gruff guy but so loving and caring,” noting his dedication to reaching out to friends. Charles Rosenay, another close friend, recalled Streeto’s involvement in Beatles conventions and his work as the news editor for “Good Day Sunshine,” a Beatles fan magazine.
Streeto is survived by his son, Mike Streeto Jr., his fiancée Jane Ferraiuolo, and several younger brothers. His brother Joseph Streeto expressed the family’s devastation at his sudden passing, emphasizing Mike’s love for music and his exceptional drumming talent.
Streeto’s unexpected death is a significant loss to the tribute band community and his many fans. His legacy as a drummer who brought joy to countless Beatles fans will be remembered fondly by those who knew him and enjoyed his performances.
His recent performances and dedication to his craft, even in his later years, represent his passion for music and his commitment to honoring the legacy of the Beatles – and Ringo. His passing serves as a reminder of how short and precious life is, especially for those who dedicate their lives to bringing happiness to others through music.
