Noah Wesley is capturing the hearts and blowing the minds of audiences as a drummer, being the youngest new member of Grove’s Marching Band.

“It’s not uncommon for kids to pick up on music but it’s definitely something special,” said the Grove’s Band Director Chreanna Byrd.

From the minute Noah was born, people recount that he had a rhythm. His mother, Kendria Wesley, was a senior when she returned to the marching band after having Noah. When she came to practice, Noah came too, and soon it became a routine the whole band loved, cherished, and embraced.

Although Kendria has since graduated from high school, the tradition of Noah on the Drumline has stuck. Every day as an unmissable routine at 4 pm sharp, he walks through the door, drumsticks in hand, ready for practice.

“He is more famous than I am, and he hasn’t even gone here yet,” said Noah’s mom. “But he loves it and I am happy he found something he loves.”

Noah’s tremendous journey to becoming the Groves Band’s “Little Mascot” started when he began tagging along with his mom to practice. One day, out of sheer curiosity, he picked up some drumsticks and started drumming—and to everyone’s surprise, he kept the beat perfectly.

“At first it was just playing around, because he was only two like he just started walking, so no one thought he would copy a beat on the drums,” Wesley said.

Then as he started walking and growing confident and more mature, he started falling in line with the band. The band kids slowly accepted Noah as one of their own. Now, they can’t even imagine band practice without him. He has become a star member of the band truly! The members of Grove’s Marching band and its fans are sure that Noah will go places with his amazing drumming ability.
