Jay Weinberg, former drummer of SLIPKNOT and current drummer for SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, recently shared an exhilarating drum-cam video of his performance with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. This special performance took place on June 22 at the Estadi Olímpic in Barcelona, Spain. Weinberg filled in for his father, Max Weinberg, who is the regular drummer for Springsteen’s band, during the song “Radio Nowhere.”

Jay’s history with Springsteen’s band is not new. Back in 2009, during the “Working On A Dream” tour, he temporarily stepped in for his father while Max was fulfilling his duties as the bandleader on “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien.” This history made the recent performance in Barcelona even more special and emotional for Jay.
In a heartfelt message accompanying the YouTube release of the video, Jay expressed his deep connection and admiration for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. He shared, “I’ve seen Bruce Springsteen and the mighty E STREET BAND more than I have any other artist over the last 25 years…it’s got to be in the multiple hundreds of shows by now. And I can say with complete confidence — the dates I’ve seen of their current tour have been amongst my absolute favorite times seeing them.”
Jay continued, “Every night is pure mastery in storytelling and rock and roll power; an emotional journey of music that’s inspiring and moving in every way.” He also emphasized the personal joy of sharing this experience with his wife and witnessing his father’s transformation into a “complete drumming weapon night after night.”
Reflecting on the experience, Jay noted, “It was a complete surprise to receive an invitation from The Boss himself to sit in for a song during the last show of their summer tour that we’d be able to see — in Barcelona, right before linking up with Suicidal Tendencies for our summer tour.”
Jay also discussed the significance of the song “Radio Nowhere” in his life. He explained, “Out of all the songs I learned and played on tour with Bruce throughout 2009, ‘Radio Nowhere’ felt the most like a natural extension of the music I had gravitated towards as a teenager. To this day, this song holds a very special place in my heart. It was a thrill to revisit playing on E Street, 15 years later.”
He concluded his message with gratitude, stating, “I’m eternally grateful to Bruce, to my Dad, to everyone on and off this stage…a true family. For sharing this moment, and for the lifetime of memories. This is one I’ll never forget.”
This touching and exhilarating performance not only highlights Jay’s incredible talent but also showcases the deep familial and emotional bonds that music can forge.
Known for their diverse taste in music and a deep love for drumming, will undoubtedly appreciate Jay Weinberg tribute and his exceptional performance with one of the most iconic rock bands in history.
