Linkin Park has finally announced the name of their new singer to replace Chester Bennington, who passed away in 2017 after a series of cryptic announcements. It is Emily Armstrong, formerly known by the band Dead Sara.

Another interesting aspect about the return of the band is that it happens without its original drummer and co-founder Rob Bourdon in the fold. He has been replaced by Colin Brittain. Linkin Park’s new drummer Colin Brittain is considered a definite valuable addition to the group.

Colin Brittain (born Colin Cunningham) is an American songwriter and music producer. He has collaborated with legends like Papa Roach, G Flip, Illenium, Hands Like Houses, Basement, Dashboard Confessional, 5 Seconds of Summer, Miyavi, and One Ok Rock. He started his career as the drummer for the band Oh No Fiasco.

Linkin Park leader and co-singer, Mike Shinoda, commented on this change as follows:

“Rob had said to us at a point, I guess it was a few years ago now, that he wanted to put some distance between himself and the band. And we understood that – it was already apparent. He was starting to just show up less, and be in less contact, and I know the fans noticed it too. The ‘Hybrid Theory’ re-release and ‘Papercuts’ release, he didn’t show up for anything. So for me, as a friend, that was sad, but at the same time, I want him to do whatever makes him happy, and obviously everybody wishes him the best.“

Shinoda talks further about the new drummer stating:

“He’s playing drums in the live show, and drums are his first instrument, but he plays guitar and bass and keyboard, and he produces and mixes. We have a similar way of looking at music, of starting from scratch, and I enjoyed working with him and bouncing ideas back and forth. And then when Linkin Park started making stuff, for whatever we were going to do, it was just like, ‘Oh, Colin. We’re making stuff. You should come over.”

Linkin Park’s new drummer Colin Brittain is sure to be an integral part of the band’s comeback. Let’s watch closely as they make some waves in the music scene. Now, they’re taking a new turn, with shows coming up in California, New York, and Germany.

For a walk down memory lane, the band controlled the 2000’s scene with smash hits, like “In the End.” Listen to the aggressive drums, front-and-center vocals, and strong energy in the original video. Colin has bit shoes to fill, but he’ll surely live up to the challenge.
