Power Trip drummer Chris Ulsh has provided some insights into whether the band will be releasing new music in the near future. In an interview with Metal Hammer, Ulsh discussed the band’s plans following the tragic passing of their frontman, Riley Gale, in August 2020. The loss of Gale was a significant blow to the metal community and left many fans wondering about the future of Power Trip.

Ulsh addressed these concerns directly, revealing that while there has been progress on new material, the band is currently focused on getting through their upcoming shows. He explained, “I think it’s the latter. I think we’ll just assess after the shows and make some moves, although I wish I had more to tell you. Blake and I have a ton of music that we’ve been working on, there’s plenty of stuff there. We just haven’t even really gotten there mentally, because we want to get these shows past us first.”
Ulsh emphasized the importance of reintroducing Power Trip’s existing discography to new fans. “There’s a ton of people that have never seen Power Trip before, that found out about the band on the internet or Spotify or whatever. And since so much time has passed, I think the most important thing to us is just playing the old songs again for people. Then after that, we can start thinking about maybe getting something new out there.”
Despite the lack of immediate plans for new music, Ulsh’s comments suggest that the band is not ruling out the possibility entirely. The band is taking a cautious approach, prioritizing their mental readiness and the completion of their live commitments before diving into new projects. This thoughtful strategy shows their dedication to both their legacy and their fans.
Power Trip has always been known for their intense live performances and powerful thrash metal sound. The band’s existing discography continues to resonate with fans, old and new, and their live shows are a testament to their enduring appeal.
For now, fans can look forward to seeing Power Trip live and experiencing the energy that has made them a staple in the metal scene. As Chris Ulsh and the rest of the band navigate this new chapter, their commitment to their music and their fans remains unwavering.
